Her journey, originating from Jackson, Mississippi, has been marked by her fearless advocacy as a Black, same-gender-loving woman from the Deep South. Dr. Butler, a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, possesses a wealth of knowledge from her extensive academic background, including a Doctorate of Education degree. Her passion for social justice led to the:

  • founding of Diversity Talks in 2017, a non-profit focused on empowering youth to lead anti-racism training for educators.

  • creation of the PERM Framework, a revolutionized approach to cultural competency, offering a comprehensive and practical tool for assessment.
